Training Programs
Everything I do, teach and recommend is based on one idea: making you the leader of your pack. Dogs are pack animals. Dogs are not humans. We have to learn to communicate to dogs on their level, not ours. When we lead consistently with praise, reward and discipline, they love it.

Board and Train (14 Day Residency)
Our board and train program is one of the most popular programs we offer. It’s designed for busy families who don’t have the time to do everything with their dog or puppy to help them understand that life is changing.
Your dog comes to live with my family and me in my home. He or she does not live in an outdoor kennel, but lives in my home and becomes a member of my pack.
- We begin the obedience commands your dog needs to adapt to pack structure and hierarchy, and address behavior issues from a leadership perspective.
- You visit 1–3 times before your dog goes home, to learn how to become the leader of your pack.
- Your dog goes home with the training tools you’ll need, an Obedience Guide and a YouTube video of your dog’s training.
- Afterward, I offer as many lessons at my home as you need, at no additional charge, until you feel comfortable. I want you to succeed.
- Cost: $3,495, including all of the training materials and tools you’ll need when you take your dog home.
- If you need to keep your dog with me after 14 days, we will prorate his or her stay and will continue training.
Extended Residency (2–6 Weeks)
Extended residency training while your dog lives with me … not kenneled. It’s a great choice for dogs that need more time, and for families going on vacation or extended travel. Instead of paying a boarding kennel to keep your dog in a cage all day, your dog gets real-life family dog training.
The scope of the training depends on your needs and how long your dog will be staying with me. I keep a limited number of dogs in my home, so spots are limited.
Private Training
One-on-one lessons for you and your dog. We address why your dog does the things he or she does and how to fix them, work on behaviors, and begin obedience training … all designed to make you your dog’s leader.
At My Home
I own a farm off of Robinhood Road in Winston-Salem. We have a multitude of distractions here … horses, goats, chickens, cats and my own dogs. This program works well as long as your dog doesn’t have specific problems that need to be addressed in your own home.
The first session is comprehensive and lasts up to an hour and a half, and it includes the training tools you’ll need. If you and your dog are committed, training can often be done in as little as 1–2 sessions.
Cost: $295 for the first session (including training tools), then $200 for each one-hour session after that.
In Your Home (Certain Situations Only)
I did in-your-home training for over 25 years. My waiting list has grown so long that I now offer it only for specific situations where training in your home is in the best interest of you and your dog. I’ll help decide what’s best in your situation.
The typical program is 1–3 lessons, usually spread out at weekly intervals. I show you how to train your dog, and you work with your dog on the commands until I return.
Cost: $395 for the first session (about 1.5 hours, including a little over $100 in training materials), then $300 for each session after that, depending on your location. It costs more than training at my home because of driving time and expense.
Commands we work on: Let’s Go, Sit, Down, Sit-in-Motion, Down-in-Motion, Come, Place, Stay, Heel and Break, plus another command or two as needed for your family. We also address behaviors like jumping, mouthing, chewing, pulling and other behaviors that are driving you crazy.
Remember, we are not here to intimidate, dominate, break your dog’s spirit or physically harm him in any way. We are here to make you the Leader of Your Pack and have your dog happily follow. This is not about show ring obedience; it’s about real life.
Behavior Modification
One-on-one or residency training to address extreme behaviors, such as fear, anxiety, reactivity, and dominance toward people or other dogs.
Behavior problems are addressed from a leadership perspective. A dog that doesn’t know who’s in charge, and is allowed to react based on life’s experiences, needs a leader. I’ll help decide whether one-on-one lessons or a residency program is the right approach for your dog.
Puppy Do’s & Don’ts
Teaching you and your puppy what to do, and what not to do, during the most critical learning stage for puppies. Starting right, with you as the leader, prevents most of the problems I’m called in to fix later.

Help After You Go Home
Training doesn’t end when your dog goes home. I’m always here for you. Board & Train families get follow-up lessons at my home at no additional charge until they feel comfortable, and every client can call with questions.
